What’s Happening this Month in Scotts Valley: August 2022

 

Santa Cruz County and Scotts Valley come alive in the summertime. Whether you’re discovering local art at one of the many weekend public markets in Santa Cruz or grooving out to live music at the Art Wine and Beer Festival in Scotts Valley, there’s always something fun happening in the summer for your family to enjoy.



Art Wine and Beer Festival 

 When:Sat, Aug 20, 10:00 a.m.–Sun, Aug 21, 6:00 p.m. 

Where:Skypark 361 Kings Village Road Scotts Valley

Cost:Drink ticket prices vary. 

 Featuring over 100 artists and a dozen of the best wineries in the area,Scotts Valley Art Wine and BeerFestival is an event the community looks forward to every year. Artists from all over Northern California showcase their art at the event- from mixed media to woodwork, to ceramics. And don’t even get us started on the jewelry vendors (there are almost thirty of them)!

The Scotts Valley Art Wine and BeerFestival has something fun for the whole family- while mom and dad are sipping their local brew and wine, the kids can enjoy the fun zone and kids' games. There is even a whole day just for the MVP of the family (your dog). Dog Day Sunday is a full day of contests where your fur child can show off their abilities and take home a prize.  

 

End of Summer sale at Zinnia's Gift Boutique 

 

When: August 19th-21st 

Where: Zinnia’s Gift Boutique219 C Mount Hermon Rd, Scotts Valley 

There are many reasons to be sad about the Summer ending, but there are a few things to look forward to (other than fall scented candles, of course). Every summer at the end of August  Zinnia’s Gift Boutique hosts the biggest sale of the year: the End of Summer Sale.  

Rather than asking what will be on sale, ask yourself whatwon’t be on sale. You can save anywhere between 20% to 60% on a plethora of locally made, sustainably curated items. Everything from candles, to books, to home decor, to baby essentials will be on sale for this special annual event. 

Enjoy discounts on some of the summer’s most stylish accessories from brands like Hobo, Vera Bradley, and many more. But don’t sleep on this one because the sale only runs from August 19th to the 21st. 




Santa Cruz Makers Market 

 

When: August 21st from 10 am to 5 pm 

Where: Downtown Santa Cruz  

Cost: Free 


The Santa Cruz Makers Markettakes place every third Sunday of the summer from 10 am to 5 pm in Downtown Santa Cruz on Pacific Ave at Lincoln St. You can find just about anything at this market, from gorgeous handmade jewelry to eclectic coastal home decor. Expect to be blown away by the talent showcased by Luna Dorada Designs, Nelson Metal Works, Sacred Instruments, and nearly forty other incredibly unique vendors

This is a great opportunity to discover plenty of new local artists and makers while experiencing the magic of the community coming together to support each other. We can’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday! 

 



Food Truck Friday at Skypark

When: August 26th from 5 pm to 8 pm 

Where:Skypark, 361 Kings Village Road, Scotts Valley 

Cost: Free 


Food Truck Friday at Skypark is every foodie's dream. Food always brings people together, especially when there’s also live music involved! 

This event is a lovely kickstart to your weekend with plenty of delicious food vendors, entertainment, and a beer and wine garden. Guests can bring lawn chairs or a blanket to stay comfortable for an evening of socializing with friends and family. Free parking and admission is another reason why we love this event.  



Sea to Sky Food and Farm Tour 

 

When: August 27th from 11 am to 2 pm 

Where:Sea to Sky FarmWaddell Beach, Davenport, 3637 Coast Rd, Davenport 

Cost:$30 per person or $50 for two people. Kids 12 & under are $15 each. 


If you love eating fresh, local food you’re going to love the food & farm tour of Sea to Sky Farm on August 27th in Davenport.Farm owner, Chris Laughlin will be the tour guide of their 19-acre "Sea Farm" located north of Davenport at Rancho del Oso. The tour includes tastings, appetizers and beverages from the farm. There will also be produce, fruit, flowers and herbs for sale so bring a cooler or insulated backpack to keep your goodies cool!


Sea to Sky Farm seeks to farm the land in a way that is harmonious with nature and the people who work the land. Farming practices include ample use of compost, cover crops, beneficial habitat creation, crop diversity and rotations to ensure the long-term viability and fertility of the land.
