There is nothing more relaxing and refreshing than a smooth and hydrating face mask. Although we love treating ourselves to a fancy salon facial, there are plenty of quick DIY versions that are much easier on our busy schedules- and easier to plan around Covid19 restrictions.
The best part is you probably already have most of the ingredients in your fridge or cupboard to make these seven natural DIY face masks.
Calm and Soothe Face Mask
What you need:
- 1 tsp of honey
- 1 tsp of coconut oil
- ¼ ripe avocado
- 2 drops lavender essential oil
How it works:
Essential fatty acids, like coconut oil and avocado, are one of the best ways to deeply hydrate your skin. If your skin leans to the dryer side then these natural ingredients will help your skin get the moisture it needs, without all the fancy additives that come with store-bought face creams. Lavender is among the more popular essential oils due to its calming properties, making it the perfect natural ingredient to help soothe your skin.
Even and Tone Face Mask
What you need:
- 1 tbsp of natural plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp of raw honey
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
How it works:
As an antimicrobial, honey is particularly effective at helping to even and tone skin that’s been damaged by fungal acne or scarring. Turmeric is a popular antioxidant that’s been used for centuries to help cleanse the skin and give aged skin a more youthful glow. Add both of these superfoods together with a bit of lactic acid (plain yogurt) and you’ve got a natural remedy for dull, uneven skin.
Radiate and Glow Face Mask
What you need:
- ½ cup pureed papaya
- 1 tbsp aloe vera gel
How it works:
Papaya is a common ingredient found in creams and exfoliates because of its enzymes which help naturally repair the skin. Combine this healing fruit with a plant like aloe vera that’s exceptionally high in vitamins A, C, E, b12 (and the list goes on), and your skin is on its way to glow-town! Let it absorb into your skin for up to 30 minutes, twice a week for optimal results.
Exfoliating Face Mask
What you need:
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ½ raw oats
How it works:
Olive oil’s been used to treat acne, and at healing wounds and burns– but above all, this kitchen staple works wonders on dry skin. Mix the oil up with honey (another effective moisturizing agent) and add raw oats for a clean and 100% natural exfoliant. Use on your face, or as a full-body scrub once a week.
Eye De-puffer Mask
What you need:
- 2 Chamomile or green tea bags
How it works:
We’ve all heard of cucumber slices to help reduce puffiness in the eyes, but have you ever tried swapping those cucumbers for tea bags? Green tea and chamomile are much more cooling than cucumbers and are loaded with antioxidants which will help to soothe and hydrate the sensitive skin around your eyes in the best kind of way. Soak two clean, round makeup sponges in your cooled tea and squeeze out any excess liquid, then simply place them on your eyes for 15 minutes.Trust on this one, you won’t regret it!
Pore Minimizer Face Mask
What you need:
- 1 tbsp raw honey
- 1 egg white
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
How it works:
It’s impossible to close your pores completely, despite what you may have heard from other sources. But this face mask will definitely help minimize them and leave your skin looking smooth and fresh with the help of egg white and lemon which both naturally help to tighten and firm the skin. This is a game-changer if you’ve been a little insecure about visible pores on your face.
Anti-ageing Cocoa Face Mask
What you need:
- ⅓ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp agave or raw honey
- 2 tbsp coconut cream or yogurt
How it works:
The star of this mask, cocoa, has been proven to produce collagen and is loaded with antioxidants. You could actually eat this cocoa mask for a snack – and once you smell it, you may not be able to help yourself. With a silky, velvety texture from the cream and cocoa combination, your skin will feel soothed and rejuvenated after a 15-minute application of this anti-ageing mask.
